Music – Liberal Arts
The Music degree program explores music within a liberal arts framework and prepares student for transfer to a four-year program.
A broad-based liberal arts curriculum helps students develop critical thinking skills while focusing on the study of music.
Graduates of the program will be able to:
- Demonstrate technical and expressive technique in major instrument and develop beginning and intermediate piano skills.
- Develop a strong foundation in music theory and history.
- Identify composers and analyze compositions from different historical style periods.
Prerequisites
Algebra I is a prerequisite for all majors. Competency in Algebra I may be verified with a passing score on the College’s placement test or by completion of the appropriate course. Students must also have a grade of “C” or better in one year of high school laboratory science.
