If you previously attended a non-collegiate education program that has been articulated through the American Council on Education (ACE), you should also submit that transcript for evaluation.
If additional information, such as a course syllabus, is required in order to determine a course’s equivalency, you will be contacted via email for this information.
Once transfer credit has been awarded you will receive an email notice with your next steps in the enrollment process.
During peak times in the enrollment cycle, there may be longer processing times in awarding transfer credits. You will receive an update regarding your transfer credit in approximately ten business days from when the student records evaluator receives your transcript. This processing time will be much shorter if you are transferring from an institution that already has established course equivalencies.
Step 3: Meet with an Academic Advisor and register for classes
After you receive an email notice stating that your transcripts have been evaluated, you can review this information on the My Progress/Self-Service webpage.
This question may be best answered during your meeting with an academic advisor in West Hall. A combination of test scores and transcripts from both high school and college may be needed to determine what placement tests are required if you did not receive certain transfer credits.
Courses must have a letter grade of “C” or higher awarded on the transcript. No transfer credit will be awarded for courses that have been taken on a Pass/Fail basis.
Courses are subject to review after time a significant amount of time has passed since the course was completed. Math, science and computer science courses are subject to review after five years and all other courses are subject to review after ten years.
Not all courses taken at other institutions are equivalent to courses offered at Middlesex College. If there is not an equivalent Middlesex College course that matches in the content and credit hours to the already completed course, transfer elective credit may be awarded. If the transfer elective credits do not fit into the general education degree requirements, then those credits may be used in another elective category if there is one in your degree program.
