Gaming and Animation – Media Arts and Design
The Gaming and Animation Program trains students to master a craft seen not only in movies and on Xbox consoles, but in architecture, industrial design, science, data visualization, medicine and education.
Animation and gaming use and expand upon every other art form. Creating video games is only one aspect of this field. Graduates may also be employed by pharmaceutical companies, engineering firms, hospitals, the military, museums and film studios.
Graduates of the program will be able to:
- To create and animate their modeled assets using Autodesk Maya (free download for students).
- To create interactivity using a game engine called Unity (also free for students).
- Develop a portfolio demonstrating a professional level of conceptual and artistic design skills.
Prerequisites
Students must demonstrate Algebra I competency before taking courses in the major. Algebra I competency may be verified with a passing score on the College’s placement test or by completing the appropriate class.
