The Fine Arts - Music Option offers the first two years of concentrated study in studio courses for students planning to transfer to a music bachelor's program.
The program trains students in the study of music theory, history and composition, and to become proficient in a musical instrument.
Graduates from this program will be able to:
- Demonstrate technical and expressive technique in major instrument and develop beginning and intermediate piano skills.
- Develop a strong foundation in music theory and history.
- Identify composers and analyze compositions from different historical style periods.
- Prepare for transfer to a four-year BFA music program or professional music academy.
Prerequisites
Algebra I is a prerequisite for all majors. Algebra I competency may be verified with a passing score on the College’s placement test or completion of the appropriate course.
