The Middlesex College Police Department’s crime log is public information made available in compliance with the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. (Also known as the “Clery Act.”)
This crime log represents a synopsis of reportable events. The hundreds of routine calls for service, general assistance and student conduct violations, which do not result in police reports, are omitted in this log.
There are typically six areas covered in the blotter i.e. (Nature/Classification, Date reported, time, General location, Brief description and disposition). Incidents are in chronological order. The most recent entry is at the bottom of the list.
According to Federal Law, an institution may withhold any of the required fields of entry, i.e. the nature, date, time, location and/or disposition, if any of the following conditions apply:
The disclosure is prohibited by law
If the disclosure would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim.
If the disclosure would jeopardize an on-going criminal investigation or safety of an individual.
If the disclosure would cause a suspect to flee or evade detection.
If disclosure would result in the destruction of evidence.
